No snow in Malaysia, so a first snow trip is a plan, not a day out. We pulled published beginner prices and the advice that matters most: book a lesson on day one.

The facts

Skis or snowboard?
A Japan guide says skiing is easier on day one; snowboarding is harder on days one and two. With 2 days on snow, take skis; with 5 days, take whichever you want to learn. [1]
Best first-day move
The same guide calls a 2-hour lesson on day one 'the single highest-value thing a first-timer can book' [1]
Korea
A Korean ski guide lists group beginner lessons at ₩40,000–50,000 for 1.5–2 hours (4–6 people per group), and a Yongpyong beginner package (lift, lesson, rental) at ₩220,000 [2]

Good to know

  • On a big powder day, a beginner should stay on groomed runs. Fresh deep snow is hard if you can't turn yet. [1]
  • Prices are in yen and won as published by independent guides. We have not converted them to ringgit, because rates move. [1][2]

We couldn't verify

  • Entry and visa rules for Malaysian passport holders. Check the official Japan and Korea government pages before booking.
  • 2026-27 opening dates for each resort.
  • Flight prices from Kuala Lumpur.
  • Whether any Malaysia-based beginner group trips are running this season.
  • Korean prices come from a single blog and may differ from the resorts' own pages.
